Survey
Categories and Rates
- Pre-purchase
Survey (C&V)
A full survey conducted out of the water to diagnose or discover the
physical condition of the vessel within the limits of non-destructive
technology. Most often includes some sea trials. The purpose of the
survey is to provide an overview of the vessel's condition, it's value
and its suitability for the intended use. Note: the designer and
manufacturer determine the usage category, not the surveyor.

January, 2008 Rate: Per hour: $150.00 Minimum fee: $500.00
Includes travel time except first 60 miles or one hour. (Same rates, all
categories)
- Insurance/Compliance
Inspection (reinsurance only)
The procedure for providing insurance underwriters and other agencies
evidence upon which they can determine seaworthiness, value and
compliance with USCG regulations.
- Minimum
fee: $400
- Walk-Through
Inspection
An inspection to provide a subjective opinion of the claims made on
the broker listing or published advertisement. The surveyor will rate
the vessel on a 1-5 scale based upon observation only. Minimum fee: $200.00 Digital photos and short
email report may be supplied.
- Sea
Trials
The objectives of sea trials are to prove or disprove claims made by
the seller, inspect the sails, sail controls and/or the operating machinery
within the contracted limitations and to evaluate the sea-keeping aspects
of the vessel. Rate: per hour, $150.00 after the first hour. (included
in C&V) if
concurrent with a survey
- Individual
Instruction
Personalized instruction aboard your own vessel to familiarize you with
the operating systems, procedures, safety and seamanship aspects of
the vessel. Rate: per day, $700.00, one day minimum.
- Consulting
Time
Prepare documents, proposals, define and describe various vessels, their
characteristics and design features. Appraisal research, misc. writing.
Rate: per hour, $100.00 (includes phone time)
- Additional
Billings
- Travel
@ $150 per hour beyond a 60 mile radius of Boynton Beach, Florida.
Includes any auto expense (roughly from Stuart in the North, to
Miami in the South)
- Out-of-pocket
costs, plane tickets, misc.
- Oil
analysis. $45 each engine, generator, transmission, others.
