Survey Categories and Rates

  1. Pre-purchase Survey (C&V)
A full survey conducted out of the water to diagnose or discover the physical condition of the vessel within the limits of non-destructive technology. Most often includes some sea trials. The purpose of the survey is to provide an overview of the vessel's condition, it's value and its suitability for the intended use. Note: the designer and manufacturer determine the usage category, not the surveyor.
  2. AS OF 01 January, 2008 Rate: Per hour: $150.00  Minimum fee: $500.00 Includes travel time except first 60 miles or one hour. (Same rates, all categories)
  3. Insurance/Compliance Inspection (reinsurance only)
The procedure for providing insurance underwriters and other agencies evidence upon which they can determine seaworthiness, value and compliance with USCG regulations.
  4. Minimum fee: $400
  5. Walk-Through Inspection
An inspection to provide a subjective opinion of the claims made on the broker listing or published advertisement. The surveyor will rate the vessel on a 1-5 scale based upon observation only. Minimum fee: $200.00  Digital photos and short email report may be supplied.
  6. Sea Trials
The objectives of sea trials are to prove or disprove claims made by the seller, inspect the sails, sail controls and/or the operating machinery within the contracted limitations and to evaluate the sea-keeping aspects of the vessel. Rate: per hour, $150.00 after the first hour. (included in C&V) if concurrent with a survey
  7. Individual Instruction
Personalized instruction aboard your own vessel to familiarize you with the operating systems, procedures, safety and seamanship aspects of the vessel. Rate: per day, $700.00, one day minimum.
  8. Consulting Time
Prepare documents, proposals, define and describe various vessels, their characteristics and design features. Appraisal research, misc. writing. Rate: per hour, $100.00 (includes phone time)
  9. Additional Billings
    • Travel @ $150 per hour beyond a 60 mile radius of Boynton Beach, Florida. Includes any auto expense (roughly from Stuart in the North, to Miami in the South)
